If you need a free, easy to use, and speedy tool to convert audio and video files, you’re well advised to go get QWinFF. It provides this type of functionality because it is based on the FFmpeg command line tool for converting multimedia files from one format to another.

QWinFF is available for Windows and Linux. Focusing on Microsoft’s operating system, it must be said that QWinFF is available as an installer (download an executable, run it, follow the instructions presented by a setup wizard) and as a portable version (download an archive, extract and run the QWinFF executable).

The multimedia files selected for conversion are displayed as a list on the application’s interface. Above this list there’s a toolbar with buttons for adding more files, removing existing files, and more. Below the list there’s a Start button – click it to launch the conversion process.

QWinFF can convert audio as well as video files. The application provides support for numerous multimedia formats: AVI, DIVX, MPEG, MOV, MP4, OGG, MP3, FLV, WAV, and more.
Converting a multimedia file is a very straightforward process: load the file or files you want to convert; choose a conversion format; choose where to save the converted file; launch the conversion process and wait for QWinFF to do its job. If you’re in a hurry and can’t wait for the conversion to complete, you can set it so the application will automatically shut down your PC when done.

QWinFF is a free and open source application.

With QWinFF on your PC you can very easily convert any audio or video file. And you can do it for free, which is great.

Pros

QWinFF is available for multiple platforms. QWinFF is available for Windows as an installer and as a portable version. Support for many audio and video formats is provided. QWinFF can convert single or multiple multimedia files. There’s a handy “shutdown when all tasks complete” function. QWinFF is free and open source.

Cons

None that I could think of.
